Useless Politicians

John Micklethwait, the Editor in Chief of The Economist, had me in stitches today with one sentence…

Writing about the ‘simple bargain’ that had to be struck in the US between Congress and the White House, but instead turned into a classic case of one-upmanship, (at the end of the day why should the Republicans help Obama in a lead up to an election?), here is what he had to say:

“America has the world’s most innovative businesspeople, but its useless politicians could yet turn an inevitable period of hardship into longer-term stagnation”

Yeah, tell us about useless politicians… I should write a bloody thesis about what thousands of years of ‘civilization’ have done to ‘citizens’, who voluntarily give up their power to a bunch of useless politicians who then turn promptly around and give them a sound kick in the tukhus…
